Operation: Tribulation 2019
October 19, 2019
The 2014 outbreak of Ebola virus in West Africa was the “largest, most severe and most complex Ebolaepidemic” in history, according to the World Health Organization (WHO). More than 28,000 people were infected, and 11,000 people died before the international public health emergency ended in 2016. In 2020, there was another outbreak of the virus. But this time, it was weaponized. Terrorist organizations used the virus as a weapon, transporting it to various nations in an attempt to fell western civilization. The virus spread and panic overtook societies from the simplest of city legislatures to entire countries. In an effort to stop the epidemic, some nations that were not affected closed their boarders choosing an isolationist approach to the problem. Others burned infected cities hoping to control the virus with fire. As the need for resources grew more and more intense and the death toll continued to rise into the millions, war broke out as once friendly and peaceful nations fought to survive at all costs. In many cases the nuclear option was dismissed as a last resort. Then in 2024, North Korea, Iran, China, Russia and many other neighboring countries unified to overpower their western adversaries. After subduing all of Asia and Africa, the threat of global takeover pushed world leaders over the edge.
It is now 2025. World Powers, crippled by the still spreading virus are now at a standoff with only the threat of global annihilation and retaliation preventing them from launching their vast nuclear arsenals. National unrest and the erosion of local government has turned the streets into a wasteland, where only the strongest and most cunning survive. Communities have formed in the shape of both gangs and militias. Some use force. Others use brains. All are working to secure the valuable resources needed to survive a nuclear holocaust and supply one of the various, quarantine fallout bunkers created to shelter populace from the Ebola outbreak. With the fingers of world leaders resting on the triggers of nuclear weapons; a deadly, highly contagious virus spreading; and time running out, which fate will your faction choose? Shelter or Destruction? Brains or Brawn?
